What a Trip!

Thanks to all of you for your support. We have been back from China for two weeks now and boy are things different. Demarion is doing well. His walking has improved and he's much more aware. We know we have a long road ahead of us. Over the next several months while the stem cells mature we will be busy. He's in therapy 4 times a week and we work really hard at home. If you have facebook check out photos of our journey at Demarion's Hope for the Future. We also still have Hope for the future wristbands. They are $5 each and all of the funds go to Demarion's funds for his medical bills (which include therapy, equipment, and home health care products). If you didn't get a chance to follow our journey in China you can catch up on I kept this site updated (as most other sites were blocked while we were in China). I look forward to the many accomplishments Demarion will achieve over the next few months and sharing them all with you.

Now you can show your support each day with the "Hope for the Future" wristband. These bands were custom made for Demarion's fundraising efforts. The wristbands come in two sizes (Adult and Child). With an online donation of 5.50 you can own your very own "Hope for the Future" wristband. When someone asks what it's about, you can spread the word and make people aware of Demarion's story. Just click on the donate button and give us an address with your donation and your wristband will be mailed to you. If you happen to be in the Oklahoma City area I can get it to you. Thanks for your support and prayers.

Almost There!

Things have been going awesome with fundraising. I can't express how excited we are about all of the support we've received. Just this past weekend an event was held in North Carolina to raise funds for Demarion's trip. We've been truly blessed in so many ways. Just last week Demarion's neurologist informed us that he was not having seizures. This is HUGE! We couldn't be happier. We've worried for three years about the seizures he had right after the accident. That night, was the first night in years that I slept the entire night. There was a peace that came over me and reminded me that everything would be ok.

We've come to know so many awesome people along the way. Some of those awesome people are Shaun and Maria Koonce. This family is a family that we didn't know, but have been so instrumental in helping Demarion. In March, Maria, who is a photographer is holding a fundraiser called Capture that Moment. This event is a mini photo session. The mini session is $25 and you get 20 frames. Each session will last 30 minutes to ensure you get the shots you want. This would be a great gift idea for Easter or Mother's Day. Maria is donating all proceeds to Demarion's China trip fund.  This event will be Saturday March 17 and 18 from 10am-4pm. For More information and to reserve your time slot contact Maria Koonce today at or (405) 371-3838. You can share this with your friends and family. We want this to be a great event for all involved.

Like the title says, we are halfway there to giving Demarion a better quality of life. Again, our family is extremely thankful for the love, support and most of all prayers. Remember, faith the size of a mustard seed has the potential of endless possibilities.

Happy Holidays!

With the Holiday Season in full swing I've been extremely busy! We are still working hard to get the funds needed to get to China. I must admit it has been hard work, but it has been rewarding and well worth it. Since my last post we have raised a large amount of funds. We were blessed to have a banquet that raised more than $5,000. I'm so grateful for all of the volunteers that gave up a Sunday to help and all who attended. It was a huge success. The following week a wonderful group of Children in Yukon, OK put on a talent show to raise money. This was extremely heartwarming! These kids put on a show that blew us away. I couldn't believe how talented these little ones were. I heard the sweetest singing voices, enthusiastic dancing, and a hoola hoop performance that I can't stop talking about. Thanks to Perma Jessup and all the participants. It was a Saturday well spent.
We are now getting ready for a bowling tournament sponsored by the bowling team at Southwestern Christian University. This event will be held on Sunday December 11 at Holiday Lanes Bowling Center in Oklahoma City, OK. The event will be from 12-6pm. Contact Coach Shaun Koonce today for more information at  (405) 863-7132. The cost is $60 per team (4 member teams).

Demarion has been working so hard lately. I can't wait to get him to China and get him that boost to help him achieve even more goals. Just two weeks ago he used his left hand, something he hasn't done in almost three years. His therapists are working even harder to prepare him for China. They have been so supportive and helpful.
As I think about what I am thankful for during this holiday season, it's pretty easy. I'm thankful for a loving family, supportive friends and caring strangers. I'm thankful for the kind words and warming hugs from people who are touched by the miracle of Demarion. I'm thankful for a team of hardworking, thinking outside of the box doctors and therapists that have become like family on this journey to get Demarion better.
